The Walkers Haute Route, stunning classic alpine trek from Chamonix to Zermatt.
The 15 day itinerary features the rigorous 12 day Classic walkers Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. The route takes you from the Chamonix Valley in France to the Valais region of Switzerland covering 180 kilometers with ascents of 11 high mountain passes with approximately 12,000 meters of ascent. The trek includes 2 days on the classic Europaweg as we approach Zermatt.

Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1: Transfer from Geneva Airport, early evening welcome and trek briefing.Day 2: A free day to explore Chamonix before we head off on our two week trek giving you the opportunity to explore some of the tourist attractions on offer and purchase any last minute essential items.
Day 3: Depart on the 1st day of the trek from Chamonix to Champex Lac starting at La Tour we take the telepherique to the Col du Balme 2204m where we cross the boarder into Switzerland. Fenetre d’Arpette at 2665m. We finally descend to the picture postcard village of Champex-Lac 1466m.
Day 4: We descent from Champex-Lac into to Osiere Valley to Chable 821m. We take the Telepherique to Les Ruinettes 2195m a further hour walk will take us to our destination for the evening Cabane du Mont Fort 2457m.
Day 5: We make our way up to the Col Termin 2648m with fantastic views of the Grand Combin 4314m from here we continue to the rocky Co de Louvie 2921m, Col de Prafleuri 2965m before our descent to Cabane de Prafleuri 2624m.
Day 6: Up to the Col des Roux 2804m on to the Col de Riedmatten 2919m. Making our way down from the col we reach the small alpine village of Arolla 2006m and our rest stop for the night.
Day 7: From Arolla we continue to La Sage 1667m we then steeply ascend towards the Col du Tsate 2868m, Val de Moiry and the Cabane du Moiry 2825m our highest accommodation of the trek.
Day 8: Climbing upward towards Col Sorebois 2847m another splendid view awaits of the Weisshorn 4505m. We then descend to the Zinal Valley and Zinal 1675m and our accommodation for the next couple of nights.
Day 9: A well earned day off for rest and relaxation gives us the chance explore Zinal.
Day 10: We leave Zinal and climb steadily to Forcletta 2875m our high point for today before descending into German speaking Switzerland and down to the small village of Gruben 1822m where the Hotel Schwartzhorn awaits.
Day 11: Another steep climb leaving Gruben through Larch and pine woodland to the Augustbordpass 2894m. Descending steadily an exposed path leads down to Jungen 1955m and finally to St Niklaus 1127m and our accomodation.
Day 12: The stunning scenery of the Europaweg awaits, we take a short buss ride across the valley to Gasenried 1659m. We gain height steeply at times offering great views of the Bernese Alps and magnificent Grosser Aletschgletscher. The path continues over difficult terrain before reaching the Europa hut 2220m.
Day 13: Our final day on the Haute Route… we have saved the best till last. The high level path contours the valley through larch woods towards Ottavan 2214m. With the majestic Matterhorn now in sight we make our way down to one of the most famous Alpine villages of Zermatt.
Day 14: A day of celebration, rest and relaxation… a free day to explore the this famous alpine village Zermatt.
Day 15: Farewell and departure via private transfer to Geneva Airport.
