The High Inca Trail

If you are a keen trekker and want the most spectacular way to get to Machu Picchu then this trip is for you! Starting with stunning views and the curious floating Uros islands at Lake Titicaca you cross the Altiplano to Cusco, heart of the Inca Empire. Travelling by this route not only gives you the chance to see great places but also means that there is an excellent amount of acclimatisation time before embarking on your trek.

Whilst many people do the standard 4-day Inca Trail you'll hike for 7 days on an extended route through beautiful and untouched scenery. The views are dominated by the impressive Salkantay Mountain which soars to 6270m. Not only can you trek further, you will also go much higher as you head over the 5000m Incachiriasca pass before joining the normal Inca Trail for the last few days.
