Kilimanjaro Rongai Trek

This less frequented route approaches from the north.
You'll have great views across the Amboseli Plains in Kenya, letting you climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and game view at the same time! Passing through alpine meadows and giant vegetation, we camp near mountain caves before joining the steep route to the summit.
The descent follows the southern Marangu Route, allowing you to trek right over Kilimanjaro!

Itinerary / Highlights
DAY 1, MoshiFrom Nairobi travel by shuttle bus to Moshi in Tanzania, via Arusha. On arrival at your hotel our representative will give you a briefing on what to expect over the next few days of trekking the highest mountain in Africa.
DAY 2, Trek to Simba Camp (2,750 m)
After breakfast you will be transferred through local villages and coffee plantations to the village of Nale Muru where you will begin your hike through fields of maize, potatoes and through a pine forest where you start to have a steady gentle climb up to Simba Camp in the moorland zone. On arrival at your camp for the night enjoy the view over the Kenyan plains!
DAY 3, Second Cave (3,450 m)
Today you will have a steady ascent up to the Second Cave. Take in the views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields along the crater rim.
DAY 4, Third Cave (3,870 m)
Continuing up your ascent today you hike to the Third Cave getting closer to the eastern ice fileds on the crater rim.
DAY 5, Kibo Huts (4,695 m)
After seeing the Kibo huts from the Second Cave you reach them today! This is where the Rongai route joins the Marangu Route. Tonight is an early night to bed to prepare for summit tomorrow!
DAY 6, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) decending down to Horombo Huts (3,690 m)
Summit day! Your day starts at midnight with a light breakfast. The goal will be to climb before dawn in order to reach Uhuru Peak after sunrise. You will start off through steep switchbacks to Gilman's Point on the crater rim (5,861 m). With still at least 2 hours of hiking along the crater rim through snow you will reach Kilimanjaro's summit, Uhuru Peak! You are now at Africa's highest point! From here you will descend back to the Kibo Huts for a break and then onto Horombo Huts for your stop for the night.
DAY 7, Moshi
Today is your last day of hiking. You will descend through the moorland to Mandara Huts through the forest and on to the park gate where you drive onto Moshi.
DAY 8, Nairobi
Following breakfast you will travel by shuttle bus via Arusha to Nairobi where your tour will end approximately at 1900hrs.
