Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1 Private transfer from Ushuaia's airport with guide to the Hotel of your choice.

We leave at 7:00 pm from our agency and head westwards, 5 km away from the city of Ushuaia. There we go into a private lot and cross the cordillera in a Land Rover Defender. Its 25 minutes off road in a really beautiful landscape. After 25 minutes we arrive at a beaver's dam, an untamed view. There, we will watch these charming rodents, experts in hydraulic engineering. They never miss! We go back to the truck and from there to the Valley of Rio Chico where we are waiting for you with a large campfire, a snack (salami, cheese, chips and drinks) and a tasty stew; drinks included (wine, beer, sodas and mineral water).
(Length: 05/06 h, Difficulty: easy, Vehicle: Land Rover Defender) (Night at Hotel of your choice)

Day 2 We will pick you up at the hotel around 9 & 9:30 am and take National Road Nº 3 northwards. We will enjoy the magnificent views of Valleys Carbajal and Tierra Mayor and then reach Garibaldi Pass, where we will make our first panoramic stop. We will follow a path to Lake Fagnano and in an extraordinary forest we will have breakfast. The off road lasts for approximately one hour following the coast of Lake Fagnano, sometimes through the forest, sometimes in the water, before we arrive to Bombilla Lagoon, if you want, you can take a 40-minute-walk to the refuge we have by the lake. There, we will be waiting for you with a snack, (cheese, salami, chips) and a barbecue (steaks and mix salad), drinks included (red or white wine, beer, sodas and mineral water). The refuge is very rustic and comfortable and has a large window with the best views of Tierra del Fuego. After lunch you will have some free time to walk around, just rest and enjoy the landscape or simply talk over the meal with some friends. At 3:30 pm we will follow an off road till we reach old road N 3 that borders Lake Escondido and we'll go on further to the tip of the lake, where Hosteria Petrel is located. There, you will have some free time again (around 1 hour) to walk, drink a coffee at the Hosteria or enjoy the beauty of the place. At 4:30 pm we will start our journey back along NR 3 to the city of Ushuaia, where we will be arriving at around 5:00-5:30 pm.
(Length: 08/09 h, Difficulty: easy, Vehicle: Land Rover Defender) (B-BBQ) (Night at Hotel of your choice)

Day 3 We leave by National Road No 3 and then take a side route and after 75 km we stop to watch the “flag-trees”, those unbelievable trees bent by the strong Patagonian wind.

Later on we will prepare our inflatable canoes and will start rowing down the meandrous Lashifashaj River, a smooth and relaxing stream. We will watch the “Fuegino” forest on the shores of the river and hundreds of birds will be flying throughout the route. The arrival to the Beagle Channel is impressive, the sky is enormous and the sea seems endless. We will get close to an island inhabited by rocky cormorants, and sometimes seals and we will continue rowing up to the “Estancia Harberton”. We visit the manor house of the Estancia, the first farm in Tierra del Fuego. Its history and its architecture will transport us to ancient times.
We will then board an inflatable semi-rigid hull boat with room for 15 people and will navigate the Beagle Channel up to the Gable Island, the biggest and most beautiful uninhabited Island in the Beagle.

After a 3 hours hike with many “unforgettable” views of the Beagle Channel trough the amazing topographic and environmental variety of Gable Island, we will board the boat once again in order to visit one of the most beautiful places in Tierra del Fuego: the Martillo Island (Hammer), the only island with penguin population in the Beagle. We will stop the boat in a sand bank and will be surrounded by hundreds of Magellanic Penguins and several couples of other bigger specie called “Gentoo penguin“. Close to Martillo Island we will see flying around thousands of petrels, Skuas, cormorants, terns and albatrosses, you will see them flying off beside the boat. Then we will get back to Harberton once again and start our return trip to Ushuaia.

(Length: 10/11 h, difficult: easy, equipment: waterproof clothes and rubber boats, transport: Kombi) (B-L) (Night at Hotel of your choice)

Day 4 For people who want to walk along easy and undemanding paths and sail on a Zodiac along the Beagle Channel. Between 9 and 9:30 am we pick you up at the hotel and take NR Nº 3 westwards. We arrive to the National Park; we go to the coastal path. This path, (3 hours, 7km long) is doubtlessly the most beautiful in the Park with lots of vegetation (High Deciduous Beech, Low Deciduous Beech, Evergreen Beech, winters bark, Fire bush, etc.).
Then we board an 18 people Zodiac &very stable and board in a beautiful bay called Ensenada. We navigate along the Beagle Channel to the Redonda Island and have a view of Rocky Cormorants that nestle in a rocky wall of the isle. We disembark on the island and have lunch in a refuge.

After lunch you have some free time to walk around the island (It's a natural reserve and it has been opened to the tourists a couple of years ago. There are two paths, 20 minutes each. After “siesta” we will head to Lapataia Bay and along this trip we will see some of the most beautiful seabirds of the Argentinean South (Albatrosses, Petrels, Snowy Sheath Bills and sometimes Penguins). We arrive to Lapataia Bay, end of the Pan-American Road, end of the world. Here we will meet our van to go back to Ushuaia, where we estimate to arrive at 4:30 pm.
