Dachstein Circuit Trek
The Dachstein massif southeast of Salzburg is like a small mountain range with dozens of peaks of 2500m or more, typified by its series of glaciers and sharp descents to the valley floor the limestone mountain contains some of the largest caves in Austria.
During this exhilarating circuit trek, there is ample opportunity to take in the awesome views of ice fields and alpine meadows, limestone peaks and dramatic lakes.
At night you stay in atmospheric mountain hotels interspersed with 3 nights in mountain huts high up on the central massif.

Itinerary / Highlights
Day 1 Arrive GosauDay 2 Hike to Hofpürgl Lodge with overnight backpack (5/6.5hrs)
Day 3 Descend to the Türlwand, overnight Ramsau on Dachstein (5 / 7hrs)
Day 4 Ascend the Dachstein Glacier lift to Hunerkogel and walk to the Guttenberg Lodge with overnight backpack (4/5hrs)
Day 5 Walk to Grafenbergalm and on to a Stoderzinken hotel (6/7hrs)
Day 6 Walk via Notgasse to the Viehbergalm and Steinitzenalm, descend to Bad Mitterndorf (6/7hrs)
Day 7 Walk to the Steinitzenalm, Lake Ödensee, and on to Bad Aussee(4.5/5.5hrs)
Day 8 Hike to Obertrauner Höhenweg then by boat to Hallstatt (2/2.5hrs)
Day 9 Visit caves then ride the Krippenstein cable car to Hallstatt
Day 10 Visit Hallstatt salt mines then follow the Brine trail to Bad Goisern with overnight backpack (2.5-3hrs)
Day 11 Walk to Gosau (4/5hrs)
