Unique Trekking Adventure in Choquequirao

Choquequirao is widely considered Machu Picchu’s sacred sister. Very similar in architecture and design to the more famous lost city of the Incas, the ancient citadel commands spectacular views both of the surrounding snowcapped Vilcabamba Mountains and the mighty glacier-fed Apurimac River far below.

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1 to 1 - Arrive Cuzco

You can choose either an arrival or departure transfer as part of your stopover or package. You can also add an additional transfer at an extra cost. If you have booked an arrival transfer for this tour you will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel. Otherwise you will need to make you own way to the hotel. The first day of your tour is simply an arrival day with no pre-organised activities. In order to allow time to relax and see more of the sights you may wish to add extra accommodation.

Arrival transfer in Cuzco with a driver speaking the local language or make your own way to the hotel. This evening you will have a briefing so that you know what to expect over the next few days. You will also meet your English-speaking guide and porters/cooks speaking the local language.
Day 2 to 2 - Cachora – Choquequirao Trek

Private transfer to the town of Cachora; the beginning of the trail of the Incas. After an afternoon trek you will set up camp for the night
Day 3 to 5 - Trekking

Today we begin trekking. Tonight we stay in a campsite close to Choquequirao.

Today we have a full-day guided tour of the Choquequirao site, followed by free time to explore before trekking back to our campsite.

We make our way back towards the original campsite.
Day 6 to 6 - Choquequirao Trek – Cuzco

After a morning trek we have lunch in Cachora town before returning to Cuzco.
Day 7 to 7 - Depart Cuzco

Departure transfer with a driver speaking the local language or end of services.

Your adventure of a lifetime comes to an end today; please confirm with reception the check out time. If you have a late flight or have lengthened your stay by adding post tour accommodation you will have more time to explore the sights. If you have booked a departure transfer, you will be driven to the airport. Otherwise this is the end of services.
