Chalet La Murette is ideally located in one of the most popular areas of Les Gets, en-route to the Chavannes ski area within 150 m from a path to the piste. You can ski to within 75 metres of the chalet via an unpisted track and from your chalet, either walking to the nearest Les Folliets ski lift (some 300 metres uphill).
A lovely bright and new Alpine-style chalet. Situated above the village, affording from the south-facing balcony/terrace fantastic panoramic views across the valley and to Mont Chery. The interior has been beautifully finished using an abundance of local pine. The large living room has comfortable settees and chairs, satellite-TV and log fire. The bedrooms are all a good size. It is only a 15 minute walk down to the village but the regular resort shuttle stops at your chalet.

Description |
The Village
The village has an appealing mixture of old chalets in distinctive Savoyard style and tasteful modern buildings which blend to create a character not always found in French resorts. Five lifts take you effortlessly into the ski area, and pistes run back to the resort centre. There is a colourful main street with lots of reasonably priced shops, bars and restaurants, an ice rink and a square which hosts a colourful weekly market. The ski range of the fabulous Portes du Soleil is excellent, and there is a good choice of non-skiing activities. Imagine the perfect picture book Alpine ski resort, and you have a good idea of Les Gets' charm. For centuries it's been a farming hamlet and still retains its roots. Buildings are low and built in a traditional style... no ugly tower blocks here. Out of season it's still a farming area, so there's a traditional market each week and a working 'fromagerie' which makes delicious local cheese and is open for winter visitors too. There is also a museum, as well as more modern facilities like a bowling alley, an ice rink, cinema, bars and discos. Les Gets first started to welcome skiers over 70 years ago, and is one of the oldest and highest village resorts in the Alps.
The Ski Area
Les Gets is one of the dozen towns and villages that form the Portes du Soleil, a giant linked ski area that straddles the French border with Switzerland above Lac Léman. Les Gets has more pistes than any of the other resorts in the Portes du Soleil circuit, with a local ski pass covering les Gets, Nyon and Le Pleney. The friendly terrain round Les Gets is perfect for beginners and intermediates, and higher up is virtually unlimited skiing for the more experienced. For a week ski holiday it's worth considering only taking the local pass as Les Gets is not ideally situated for access to the rest of Portes du Soleil. Renowned as the world's biggest international ski area, the Portes du Soleil is ideal for skiers of all levels. With an early start and the help of our ski host, you can have a superb day out taking a circular tour via Avoriaz, Switzerland and Chatel before returning home. There is a good variety of reasonably priced mountain restaurants and huts for a lunch break. With 650 km of pistes to choose from, from picturesque tree-clad slopes to enormous, sunny, high-altitude bowls, there is something for everyone. |
