     Peruvian Andean

Trekking in El Calafate (Argentina) with Tierras Vivas

A scenic and rugged mountain route, this trek leads you to Machupicchu through the unspoiled Andean highlands where the local farmers and villagers continue their way of life as they have for the past 500 years. Among the lakes, peaks, and passes, these regional peoples have learned to live and farm in the extremes of the Peruvian landscape.

Wearing the vivid colours of their traditional ponchos, these high altitude farmers wander and work in their markets and villages of thatched stone and adobe houses. This trail offers a unique insight to the ingenious methods that these mountain people have developed over centuries to raise corn, potatoes, llamas, alpacas, and other products among these steep and spectacular peaks.
