     Damavand Mountain Persian Trek

Trekking in Tehran (Iran) with Explore!

Trek the desolate landscape/Mark Steadman

[Full Image]
Tehran

With nearly 12 million inhabitants (one sixth of the country's total population) in less than 20,000 sq km, Tehran is the country's most densely populated province and it is here where we end the holiday with a city tour of the capital including the archeological museum and glass and ceramic museum. We also visit the Saad Abad Palace which are the palaces of the last King of Iran. After the Islamic Revolution, these palaces were changed into museums with an aim to represent the finest works of art giving a historical and cultural interpretation of the country.

Climbing Damavand

We then ascend Shir Pala mountain. Whilst trekking, there is the opportunity to visit local teahouses on route to the summit at 2750m. Continuing our acclimatisation, we climb the Touchal Mountains which are located close to the capital. We trek for a full day climbing to the top of the mountain (3964m) which allows for great views of the landscape of Tehran and the surrounding area and descend the same day.
